The following series of screen shots show you how to setup
an email account in Outlook Express.
This example will setup the account for the following email
address Bruce_Springfield@mydomain.com.
Open Outlook Express and choose Accounts... from the
Tools menu.

From this window, click the Add button and select
Mail... from the popup menu
Type in your name (e.g. Bruce Springfield) in the Display
Name box
Type in the email address you're setting up in the E-mail
address box.
Select POP from the selection menu and type in the email
server (mail.mydomain.com) in both the Incoming mail (POP)
and Outgoing mail (SMTP)* boxes.
ATTENTION *
Many ISP's (Internet Service Providers) are blocking what
is called "Port 25" which is the port used to send
e-mail. They have chosen to do this to cut down on the amount
of "SPAM" mail that is sent. All e-mail sent via
the Internet is routed through the port 25, the channel used
for communication between a mail client and a mail server.
Even though port 25 blocking will probably become an industry
standard, however, the filter can create problems for e-mail
servers and block legitimate e-mail as well as spam. You can
check with your dial-up provider to see if they are doing
this.
If your ISP is among the following:
- AT&T
- MindSpring
- BellSouth
- MSN
- CableOne
- NetZero
- Charter
- People PC
- Comcast ATTBI
- Sprynet
- Cox
- Sympatico.ca
- EarthLink
- Verio
- Flashnet
- Verizon
- MediaOne
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEND EMAIL
USING YOUR SMTP SERVER. You will have to use your ISP's SMTP
(Outgoing mail) server. Contact them in order to get the details.
Type in the username (e.g. Bruce_Springfield) followed
by a percentage mark (%) followed by the domain name (e.g.
mydomain.com) in the Account name box.
Enter the password for this mailbox in the Password
box and click Next.
Click on Finish.
You will be able to retrieve your email from the mydomain.com
POP server.

displayed, select the mail account you just created and click

requires authentification box.
