1)
What
is the first thing I should do to
set up a website?
The
first thing you should do is find
a domain name that will represent
you or your company. Your domain name
is your identity on the web. It must
be easy to remember and if possible
linked to your company's name, products,
or services.
|
|
2) What
do I need to set up a web site?
You
need to register a domain name and
you need to sign up for a web hosting
plan. If you already have your domain
name, we will transfer it for you
to our own DNS if you provide us with
the accurate information of your actual
provider.
If you want to design your own website,
we will provide you with an ftp account
that you will use to upload your files
to your website anytime as often as
you want.
We can also design and maintain your
website for you so you don't have
to worry about anything. In this case,
refer to the Web
design page.

register a domain name or talk about
your future website, call us at 305.935.5476.

3) How
do I get my own domain name?
Once
you have chosen a domain name to represent
you on the web, you need to verify
that that domain name is available
for registration.
You must be aware that even though
no web site is available for a given
domain name, this doesn't mean that
the domain name is available. To verify
if a domain name is available, try
the utility box on the right side
of the screen. This utility checks
in the WhoIs database to find
out if a domain name has already been
registered. If this is the case, you
will have to chose another domain
name.
Once you find
a domain name that is available, ask
us to register it as soon as
possible. See Domain
name page for more information
on domain name regtistration and fees.

4) How
much money do I have to spend to have
my own web site?
The minimum amount to spend for a
web site would be
$11.20/mo. for a Linux based low traffic
web site billed on a yearly basis.
|
|
5) How
do I set up email accounts for my
employees under my own domain name?
All our hosting plans include unlimited
email accounts. This means that you
can set up as many email addresses
(username@yourdomain.com) as you want
for your employees or services and
this at no extra cost.
Your hosting plan provides you with
a user-friendly web based control
panel that you will use to set up
your email accounts free of charge.
You don't want to deal with all this?
We understand that you have better
things to do. If you want us to set
up all your accounts for you, we will
charge you a one time set up fee of
$5 per mailbox.
|
|
6) How
long does it take to setup a new account
or to get a domain working?
Orders
received to set up new accounts will
be processed within 24 hours. This
means that you will have your ftp
and control panel access within 24
hours and you will be able to setup
and access your website even though
your domain name didn't have time
to spread out.
Domain names need time to spread out.
For a new domain name set up, it could
take on average of 24 hours. For a
domain that is being transferred,
it takes about 48 hours on average.
In any case if your domain is not
working 48 hours after you have requested
your have placed your order, you should
contact us for an update.

|
7)
What
is your spam or bulk e-mail policy?
DaVinci
and its providers have strict
policies that prohibit all bulk e-mail/usenet
posting and unsolicited advertising
email. Any client found to be engaged
in this activity will have their
site removed from this network
without any refunds.
|
|
8) What's
with the bandwidth?
We charge our customer a surcharge
if they use more than 2GB of transfer
a month (on that particular month).
This is charged at a rate of $6 per
GB, sold in 1 GB blocks.
|
|
9) What
if I go over my disk space?
We will bill you for the extra disk
space (over your plan limit) at the
end of the month. This is charged
at a rate of $5 per month (on that
particular month) for every additional
chunk of 50Mb. We start charging for
a full chunk when the used space is
10Mb over your allowed space.
|
|
10) How
do I know if I am over my limits?
We
will not warn you if you pass your
allowed limits. However at any time
you can check up your stats using
the
user-friendly web based control panel.

|
11) What do I need to set up my own online shop on the Internet?
The very first thing to do would be to contact a bank
or any merchant account provider and open a "merchant account" with them.
The merchant account will allow you to accept credit cards and transfer the money
to your business checking account (that you must open as well if you don't already have one).
The second step is to hook up with a payment service (ex: Verisign, Cybercash, Bank of America,...)
that will allow you to perform secure on-line credit card transactions from your website.
The third step is to buy and configure a shopping cart that will be compatible with the payment service.
Finally you have to develop your shop website.
We can do it all for you. You open your merchant account and we do the rest !
