1) What
is the first thing to do before
setting up a website?
The first thing you should do is find
a domain name that will represent
you or your company. Your domain name
is your identity on the web. It must
be easy to remember and if possible
linked to your company's name, products,
or services.
|
|
2) What
do I need to set up a web site?
You
need to register a domain name and
you need to sign up for a web hosting
plan. If you already have your domain
name, we will transfer it for you
to our own DNS if you provide us with
the accurate information of your actual
provider.
If you want to design your own website,
we will provide you with an ftp account
that you will use to upload your files
to your website anytime as often as
you want.
We can also design and maintain your
website for you so you don't have
to worry about anything. In this case,
refer to the Web
design page.

|
3) How
do I get my own domain name?
Once
you have chosen a domain name to represent
you on the web, you need to verify
that that domain name is available
for registration.
You must be aware that even though
no web site is available for a given
domain name, this doesn't mean that
the domain name is available. To verify
if a domain name is available, try
the utility box on the right side
of the screen. This utility checks
in the WhoIs database to find
out if a domain name has already been
registered. If this is the case, you
will have to chose another domain
name.
Once you find
a domain name that is available, ask
us to register it as soon as
possible. See Domain
name page for more information
on domain name regtistration and fees.

4) How do I create my website?
Creating a Web site has never been easier with CM4All,
DaVinci provides its customers with the most versatile
and easy-to-use browser-based Web site creation tool on
the market with hundreds of templates to choose from.
It's free, available and user-friendly.
Of course, using your favorite Web pages editing tools,
you can create, test and upload your web pages on our
servers using your provided FTP account.
|
|
5) How
do I get email addresses that contain my domain name?
All our hosting plans include 500
email accounts. This means that you
can set up 500 different email addresses (username@yourdomain.com)
at no extra cost.
Your hosting plan provides you with
a user-friendly web based Control Panel that you will use to set up
your email accounts, your SPAM filtering options, your Forwarders and Autoresponders.
|
|
6) How
long does it take to setup a new account
or to get a domain working?
Orders
received to set up new accounts are processed within 24 hours. This
means that you will have your FTP
and Control Panel access within 24
hours allowing you to setup your emails and upload your web pages.
New domain names are made into DNS records at the domain provider's servers.
These changes in the DNS records have to propagate to other DNS servers around
the world and this may take up to 72 hours. It may take that long before
the world can see your new website.

|
7) What is your spam or bulk e-mail policy?
DaVinc iand its providers have strict
policies that prohibit all bulk e-mail/usenet
posting and unsolicited advertising
email. Any client found to be engaged
in this activity will have their
site removed from this network
without any refunds.

8) What do I need to set up my own online shop on the Internet?
Four steps:
The very first thing to do would be to contact a bank
or any merchant account provider and open a merchant account with them.
The merchant account will allow you to accept credit cards and transfer the money
to your business checking account (that you must open as well if you don't already have one).
The second step is to hook up with an internet payment service or gateway (ex: AuthorizeNET, Verisign, Cybercash, Bank of America,...)
that will allow you to perform secure on-line credit card transactions from your website.
The third step create or buy and configure a shopping cart that will be compatible with the internet payment gateway.
Finally you have to develop your shop website.
We offer help thoughout the process. With PowerPay Merchant Processing, we offer a payment solution that includes the opening of a merchant account and a subscription to a payment gateway.
With ShopSite we provide you with e-commerce software packages that allows you to efficiently manage your online store, merchandise and transactions. With ShopSite, you can create an online store or commerce-enable your existing site in a matter of minutes - without installing anything on your PC. ShopSite Starter is included in our plans. It allows a website to sell up to 15 products. ShopSite Manager and ShopSite Pro offer unlimited products and more options and do cost a monthly fee.
Or we can do it all for you. You open your merchant account and we do the rest !
